In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity

My Counselling Approach

I am an Integrative Counsellor, using a specific model of Psychodynamic, Person-Centred and Transpersonal approaches. I draw on these different theories to increase understanding and insight as is relevant to each unique client and their situation. I aim to understand your situation to bring into focus an improved way forward. This might invite considering how past experiences may impact your life-choices today, as well as understanding how life is for you now.

My Work

As well as a private counselling practice, I see clients through NHS referral in Hammersmith and Fulham.

I work with The Medaille Trust, who provide safe-housing, advocacy, and support for survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery.

Over the last 10 years, a specific area of interest has been my work with vulnerable women. Often survivors of abuse; domestic abuse and violence; modern slavery; sexual abuse; addiction; domestic or migrant destitution, I have found it a huge privilege to support them as they face their difficulties and take new steps forward.

Prior to working as a counsellor, I obtained a BA(Hons) degree at university and have worked in the commercial and charity sectors for over 25 years.

Standards of Practice

Client well-being is my first priority. To deliver this, I am committed to the highest standards of professional practice.

I am qualified with a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited course assuring a high level of training and my competency.

The BACP is the UK’s leading professional body for the counselling professions. As well as a guarantee of my level of qualification, my membership requires a continued commitment to, and demonstration of, high ethical standards and professional practice.

I adhere to the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. (This can be accessed via my ‘Resources’ page). The Framework’s purpose is primarily for client protection and safety. It specifies values, principles and personal moral qualities which inform my counselling practices. Clients can expect our therapeutic relationship to be safe, non-judgemental and strictly confidential.

I value diversity and aim for inclusion for all by helping people overcome barriers to accessing counselling services.

I aim to communicate clearly about what you can expect from me and welcome feedback on your experience of the counselling.

In accordance with BACP best practice, I will keep accurate and appropriate records of our sessions. In so doing, I commit to protecting your privacy and confidentiality. For further information, please refer to my Privacy Statement linked at the foot of this website. I aim to work fully in accordance with my legal obligations, such as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

As per the BACP's requirement for counsellors, I have regular Supervision. This is to ensure my accountability for ethical practice as well as reviewing and furthering the counselling work. Your confidentiality is strictly upheld.

CPD - Continuous Professional Development
Again as per BACP requirements, I undertake regular CPD training, adding to expertise and specialist interest.

I have appropriate professional insurance.
